Probably Vigenere
The message below was just intercepted by the FBI.
Yesterday they listened in on a cell phone conversation that mentioned squash, sweet potatoes,
eggplant, and zucchini, so they assume that one of those words might be the key in a Vigenere cipher.
Try each of these keys in turn, deciphering just the first three letters to see whether your choice could possibly be the key.
When you finally find one that works, use it for the whole message.
Remember that you encipher in Vigenere by adding the key, so you decipher by subtracting the key.
If the key number is too big, be sure to add 26 to the coded letter.
For example, you can’t subtract G from B (1 minus 6), so you add 26 to B, making it 27 instead of 1. Now you can just do 27 minus 6.
